For the last year and a half, the St. Augustine Tea Party members have been meeting at the Village Inn on Ponce de Leon Boulevard — the room, capable of holding 95, was free and if you wanted something to eat or drink, we could get table service.
Last month, a member reported that when they had lunch at the Village Inn, they found the air conditioning on the fritz.
At the last minute, everyone was asked to move to “The Meeting Room” at the Ponce de Leon mall.
The Village Inn had always been comfortable and the service terrific. The pie is even better. The Tea Party was meeting at the Village Inn where coffee, pie or dinner was available.
Yes, they had a temporary problem, in the front part of the building only, but it was addressed and fixed before the next scheduled meeting. The back room where we were meeting was unaffected. It remained cool.
But, Lo and Behold! Guess what happened at the new, temporary and expensive location… the empty room at the Mall with no service available and only two hours to cover all business before the lights go out and the door is locked.
You have probably read about the ruckus that happened Tuesday night at the Meeting Room. The plotting and deception by the two REC Executives failed miserably.
But the rest of the story is this:
Global Warming showed up in the new Meeting Room location! There was NO air conditioning! It was hotter than hell in there; in more ways than one. The REAL Tea Party members (not the REC) went to the Village Inn after that meeting was adjourned, and took refreshment, where it was cool, friendly and just plain wonderful.
Moral of the Story: Don’t mess with Mother Nature and don’t fabricate because, when you do, it will be found out and shouted from the house tops.
