McLeod is getting some help from Jimmy Wray, who manages the original thrift store for the non-profit organization as well as other volunteers and staff of the 21 year-old provider of services to victims of domestic and sexual abuse in St. Johns County.
“We would like to take a moment to thank the community for their support of our Thrift Shoppe,” McLeod said. “We have some very loyal customers and it is always a pleasure and honor to have you shop with us.”
Brumfield told us that everyone is excited about the new location at 455 State Road 13, near the Food Lion — which will be open as of July 1st.
In an announcement to customers of the former SR-13 location, McLeod wrote, “We want to assure you that we will continue to do all we can to make your shopping experience as pleasurable as possible.”
A grand re-opening ceremony will be held after things get settled this summer; tentatively to be held on Thursday September 29th.
Brumfield, who is Community Awareness Coordinator at Betty Griffin House, says the shelter owes the success of the retail establishment in the Julington Creek area to their regular shoppers. She told Historic City News that they are confident that those customers will find their way to the new location.
“Our sincere appreciation of your patronage into our new space cannot be overstated,” Brumfield said. “We are working to eliminate domestic violence and rape in our community.”
