For the first time in history, Historic City News has learned that Whetstone Chocolates of St. Augustine will offer kids an opportunity to become real gourmet chocolatiers through their Chocolate Camp for Kids programs.
This June and July, the 7,800 square foot, air-conditioned Whetstone factory will be open to kids ages 9-12 who want to learn the sweet secrets behind Whetstone’s most beloved chocolate creations.
Each camp session begins with a chocolate and confectionery class where kids can make chocolate-covered caramels, design and create personal chocolates, bake chocolate brownies and dip fruit.
The camp will also offer chocolate facts and invite kids to get involved in discussions, workshops and games. And, the best part? Campers bring home the tasty treats they make at the factory.
Family-owned and operated since 1967, Whetstone Chocolates is a St. Augustine original.
Summer Chocolate Camp sessions are June 14-June 17; June 28-July 1; and July 19-July 22.
All sessions are held at the Whetstone Chocolate Factory, 149 King Street in downtown St. Augustine. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 904-217-0275; spaces are filling quickly.
