Card stolen in car burglary used in area

Sheriff’s deputies in St Johns County are searching for a man who used a credit card that was stolen during a car break-in that occurred January 2nd in the public parking lot along SR-A1A South at the Fort Matanzas National Monument.

The credit card and burglarized vehicle belong to a 65 year-old victim who parked his car, then walked down to Matanzas beach with his wife, shortly after lunch that day.

When the couple returned to the vehicle, they didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary. About thirty minutes later, they received a cell phone call from a woman who stated that she found some personal property belonging to the victim in the parking lot of her condominium.

On closer investigation, the victim discovered that his wallet was missing from a storage compartment inside the vehicle and that two of his credit cards had been used at several locations in St Johns and Clay counties.
