Chamber member drive nets 55 additions

Isabelle Rodriguez, Vice President of Operations of the St Johns County Chamber of Commerce, informed local Historic City News business reporters that 55 new businesses have been recruited to join the county’s largest business organization this week — pushing the Chamber’s membership over 800 in total.

On Wednesday and Thursday more than 30 members from different industries and across the county volunteered to inform other businesses of the key benefits of Chamber membership.

“We would like to thank our members for their enthusiasm,” said Chamber President Kirk Wendland, “There is strength in numbers and we are pleased to welcome these new members to the Chamber network.”

Len Weeks, of Len Weeks Construction enlisted the most new members and won a 32’inch flat panel television. Weeks also pushed his team to claim the top team prize. Week’s team included Matt Hartley, Robert Mora, and Greg McLeod.

Volunteers each spent a shift in the membership drive phone bank. More than $1,600 in special offers were added to the almost $400 advertising package traditionally provided to all new members during the two-day campaign.

Charlie Williams won the “905” award and received a Kindle Fire for signing up the most new members by 9:05 a.m.
