Credit cards stolen in car burglary reappear

Detectives with the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a series of car break-ins that have occurred recently in the Ponte Vedra area, according to an alert received by local reporters at Historic City News in St Augustine.

On June 19, deputies responded to the 300 block of north Ponte Vedra Boulevard after receiving a call from a victim who reported one of the windows of her vehicle was broken and her wallet was missing.

Since the initial investigation, detectives have determined that the victim’s credit cards are being used. Some of those transactions have been retraced to the merchants involved.

It is believed that photographs obtained from surveillance video in this case, could connect the culprits to other vehicle burglaries in the north beaches area over the past couple of weeks.

Based on the available evidence, law enforcement officials believe a man and woman, driving a late model white or silver Chevrolet Equinox, possibly a 2010 to 2012 model, are connected to these burglaries.
