The City of St Augustine notified Historic City News readers that the Easter Parade, scheduled for Sunday, April 8 at 3:00pm, will necessitate traffic detours and restricted parking in the downtown and San Marco Avenue areas.
The parade assembles along San Marco Ave. and Williams St. and proceeds south on San Marco Ave., south on S. Castillo Dr., south on Avenida Menendez, west on Cathedral Pl., north on Cordova St., and then disburses in the vicinity of the Visitor Information Center.
Parking is prohibited all day on San Marco Ave., King St, Cathedral Pl. and Avenida Menendez north of the Bridge of Lions. The Historic Downtown Parking Facility will be accessible until approximately 2:00pm and will not reopen until after the parade.
Elsewhere, as always, parking is free in St. Augustine on Sundays.
Detours will start at approximately 2:00pm and continue until the end of the parade, approximately 5:00pm. May St. (southbound) will use San Carlos Ave. to U. S. 1 South. King St. eastbound will use one lane only from Cordova St. to the Bridge of Lions and may not turn north on Avenida Menendez. Bridge of Lions will not be closed to vehicular traffic but will be very congested with westbound traffic routed into one lane King St. to Cordova St. W. Castillo Dr. and Orange St. will be closed starting at 2:00pm. St. George St. between King St. & Cathedral Pl. will be closed to traffic all day.
