Betty Griffin House Community Awareness Coordinator Kim Brumfield reported to Historic City News in St Augustine that the local emergency shelter has been awarded a grant from Wells Fargo’s 2012 Community Partners Giving Program.
According to Brumfield, the grant is part of an annual program where each Wells Fargo branch explores the needs of their local communities and then selects a non-profit organization or school to receive a $1,000 grant. This year, Wells Fargo has chosen Betty Griffin House.
“At Wells Fargo, we are committed to supporting programs and organizations that we believe are important to the future vitality and success of our community,” said Emily Schmitt, of the Julington Creek Wells Fargo store. “So, we are proud to support Betty Griffin House with this grant.”
As a private, nonprofit agency, Betty Griffin House provides emergency shelter to abused women, men, and their minor children. Other support services available include a 24-hour crisis hotline, individual and group counseling, forensic-medical rape exams, and legal assistance. Confidential individual and group counseling are available in all parts of St. Johns County including, Hastings, Ponte Vedra Beach, St. Johns, St. Augustine and St. Augustine Beach.
If you or someone you know is being abused, please call the 24-Hr Crisis Hotline 904-824-1555.
