Venerria Lucas Thomas, Director of Health and Human Services, and her staff, were recognized recently for earning St Johns County’s Family Integrity Program the second-highest ranking in the state; according to the Department of Children and Families.
Last month, DCF and the Florida Coalition for Children unveiled a tool for measuring success rates within the state’s social service network, known as a “scorecard”. The scorecard is updated monthly. It evaluates Florida’s 20 lead community-based care agencies, including St Johns County’s Family Integrity Program, on 12 key measures.
The network consists of nonprofit organizations that contract with the state to handle all prevention, foster care, adoption and Independent Living services to children and families in the child welfare system.
The results tabulated are compared to other agencies in the network to determine how well each is meeting the most critical needs of at-risk children under their supervision.
The scorecard measures the agencies performance on child safety, family preservation, adoptions, and well-being of children in foster care; such as medical and dental services and reaching educational goals.
Commission Chairman, Mark Miner, congratulated the employees and said, “This ranking is a credit to the dedicated staff and superb leadership of St Johns County’s Family Integrity Program”.
