Flagler high schools placed on lock down

Updated: 1:30 pm: Debra Johnson reported to Historic City News that Sheriff’s deputies have identified the former student involved in this morning’s incident as William Hofer.

Hofer’s last address was listed as 41 Zaun Trail in Palm Coast; but, deputies said he is now a transient and has no home address.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (386) 313-4911.

A 20-year-old graduate of Flagler Palm Coast High School, Class of 2011, who posted threatening messages overnight on facebook has caused all Flagler County high schools to be locked down — the heightened security measure was initiated around 8:53 this morning.

According to the latest media update received by Historic City News about 30 minutes ago, the Sheriff’s Office is operating under the assumption that the former student has access to weapons based on his facebook postings — but that has not been confirmed.

“We are taking this student’s threat, including a threat to harm himself, very seriously,” said Flagler County Sheriff’s Office Major Steve Clair. “We are working to resolve this situation quickly.”

Classes on all campuses are proceeding as normal; however, law enforcement personnel have locked down the campuses of Flagler Palm Coast High School, Matanzas High School, Imagine School at Town Center, and Daytona State College Flagler Palm Coast.

The latest word is that “the move is precautionary” and the Sheriff’s Office is utilizing “all available resources” to locate the former student; whose identity, even though he is an adult, has not yet been released.
