Historic City News reporters were notified today that the 2012 slate of officers was elected to serve on the volunteer Board of Directors of the local non-profit agency, Home Again St Johns Inc.
The newly formed organization, whose mission is addressing the issues of homelessness in St Augustine and St Johns County, is beginning its first complete year as an independent community service agency.
2012 Officers elected:
President Leanna Freeman
Vice President Mike Davis
Secretary Mary Lawrence
Treasurer Michael Cunningham
Mike Davis has worked for two years to lead this group of concerned citizens; initially working with the United Way of St. Johns County, through formation of the highly successful Monthly Provider meeting, evening meal for the homeless on Bridge St and coordination of business leaders in supporting solutions the growing homeless population.
During 2011, Freeman served as chairman of the Site Selection Committee for Home Again. “This group has worked hard on defining the requirements for a comprehensive service facility and to identify a location that is acceptable to the community,” said Freeman; a local attorney and currently Vice Mayor of the City of St Augustine.
Mr. Davis, the founding President of Home Again St Johns, expressed great confidence in the ability of the newly elected President to continue the growth of this effort.
Home Again St Johns is working to establish a one-stop center for the local homeless population. An announcement on this effort is expected shortly.
