Letter: County Attorney should not interfere
Mary F Kohnke
Palm Valley, FL
Dear Editor:
I recently made a public records request in St Johns County.
The county attorney, Patrick McCormack, called to inform me that “to be fair” he was going to report my request and my name to all parties involved.
I have made numerous public records requests and this is the first time I have been told my name would be revealed.
There is absolutely no legal requirement for him to do this, so I ask myself why our county attorney would do such a thing?
Is it to discourage requests to cut down on his workload?
Perhaps it is even more sinister.
Is it to intimidate people and make then think twice about possible retaliation if they are looking into questionable legal or ethical practices?
Either way I expect better for the caring citizens of this County.
