US Army National Guard Sergeant Tommy Phillp, a security force member of the Provincial Reconstruction Team located in Farah province, Afghanistan, takes a photo of the base 9/11 memorial before beginning a nine-mile ruck sack march to commemorate Patriot Day.
The Provincial Reconstruction Team is a unit of soldiers, sailors and airmen working with various government and non-government agencies tasked with facilitating governance and stability in the region.
By working hand in hand with local officials and the government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the goal of the reconstruction team at Forward Operating Base Farah is to promote the Afghan government, their ability to resolve local issues, and to provide security for the people.
