Pot grow house discovered in Palm Coast

Debra Johnson reported to the Historic City News crime desk that members of the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office spent much of the day yesterday cleaning up a marijuana grow operation that was discovered when workers arrived to change locks on a rental house.

Deputies responded to the home on 20 Princeton Lane around 8:30 a.m. after the workers discovered the starter plants growing inside the home. Street value of the marijuana, once matured, was estimated at $24,000.

The Sheriff Office was notified and the Narcotics Enforcement Team entered the home where they discovered some 24 plants growing in large pots in a back spare bedroom. The home’s interior had been altered to allow an elaborate electrical and lighting system with air conditioning running for the plants.

Florida Power and Light was called to turn off the power. The plants were collected as evidence.

Luis Urra, 39, who was renting the home, was located as he drove down Princeton Lane toward the house. He was charged with cultivation of marijuana and was booked into the Flagler County Inmate Facility. He was later released after posting $10,000 bond.
