Proctor lends endorsement to Travis Hutson

Last week in St Augustine, retiring District 20 Republican member of the House of Representatives, Dr. William Proctor, gave his recommendation and endorsement to House District 24 candidate Travis Hutson.

If elected, Hutson, who with his wife Tanya live in Elkton, would serve in the newly redrawn District encompassing south St. Johns County, all of Flagler County and north Volusia County.

“Travis is an excellent conservative choice to become a new member of our Northeast Florida delegation,” Proctor told reporters Thursday. “His real world business experience is just what we need in the Legislature.”

After graduating college, Hutson returned to St Johns County and worked for Ambassador John Rood at Vestcor Companies, specializing in sales and acquisitions as well as analyzing financial data for incoming and outgoing investments. Hutson currently works at the Hutson Companies, overseeing charitable foundations as well as property and agricultural management.

“He understands the policies needed to free up small businesses to create jobs and lead our economic recovery,” Proctor said.

We won’t know for certain until the qualifying process concludes on June 8, however, according to the records of the Division of Elections, Hutson may face Donald O’Brien of Palm Coast in a Republican Primary in August; however there are rumors that O’Brien has decided not to run. We called O’Brien at home and left a message for comment.

If everyone who has announced qualifies, Doug Courtney and Milissa Marie Holland, both from Palm Coast, will face each other in a Democrat Primary Election; with the survivors of the Primary Elections facing Michael Cornish of St Augustine, running without party affiliation in the General Election in November.
