President Gary Bruce announced that the Republican Club of Greater St Augustine would hold its first forum for contestants in this year’s Republican Primary Election for St Johns County Commission District 5.
Republican candidates Rachael Bennett and Alan Kelso will address the members and field questions from the audience about their views on St Johns County issues and the need to return to conservative social and fiscal leadership.
Topics for discussion will include the candidate’s plans for reducing the size and cost of operating local government, property values and millage rates, business development and specific examples of how they feel their agenda embraces traditional Republican values.
Secretary Pat Greenfield said, although she has received confirmation from Bennett and Kelso for tomorrow night’s forum, “We have invited Ken Bryan but have not as yet heard from him.”
Florida State Representative Fred Costello, who resides in Ormond Beach, has announced his candidacy for the US House of Representatives newly redrawn District 6 seat, which includes St Johns County. He has asked to address the audience about his candidacy.
Refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 12th. The candidate forum will get underway following a few business items during the regular meeting starting at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the St Augustine Shrine Club located at 250 Brainard Drive in St Augustine — east of US-1 South just north of Moultrie Creek.
Registered Republican members and guests are invited to attend without charge. There will be complimentary food, soft drinks and a cash bar is available. The menu will include – Publix Chicken Tender platter, salads, side dishes and desserts. Food donations are always welcome and may be coordinated through the Secretary at pgreenfield@stauggop.com
