Keepers of the Coast and Friends of the St Augustine Amphitheatre are inviting Historic City News readers to grab your friends and neighbors, and plan to attend the free Back2School Beach Fest on Saturday, August 18th, on St Augustine Beach and at the St Augustine Amphitheatre.
The family-friendly community event will promote clean beaches, healthy lifestyles and a fun day at the beach before kids head back to school.
The Back2School Beach Fest kicks off from 2pm to 5pm on the beach at the St. Johns County Pier, where events will include a beach clean-up, one-mile fun run and 5k Run sponsored by ALS, free surf lessons with St. Augustine Surf School, and a Surf Contest.
The festivities continue at 6pm with an Oceans Expo at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre with live music from Aslyn and the Naysayers and Lu Rubino, environmental education booths, local arts and crafts vendors, a bounce house and interactive kid’s activities.
Support the “Stuff the Bus” promotion sponsored by the Friends of the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, by donating school supplies to benefit teachers and students in St. Johns County.
The all-day event will conclude in the evening at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre with a premiere of “Plastic Shores” and Volcom Surf movie beginning at 8pm.
The Second Annual Back2School Beach Fest is also sponsored by the St Johns County Cultural Events and Beach Services Division, in partnership with Sweetwater Brewing Company, Plastic Shores and Volcom.
