Brian Graham reported to Historic City News today that St Johns County Sheriff David B Shoar has recommended local resident Beverly Slough for Florida’s 6th Congressional District.
“I have always admired Bev Slough’s public service and I truly believe Bev represents all that is good in our citizens who honestly want to make a difference,” stated Sheriff David Shoar. “Bev Slough will be a conservative leader we can trust to actually change Washington.”
David Shoar is the Past President of the Florida Sheriffs Association and has served as St Johns County Sheriff since 2004, winning re-election unopposed in both 2008 and 2012. Prior to serving as Sheriff, Shoar was the Chief of Police for the City of St. Augustine and is a veteran of the Florida National Guard.
Bev lives in St Johns, Florida with her husband Wes, pastor of Switzerland Community Church. They have two daughters, Julie Simmons and Elizabeth Slough, and two grandchildren. Bev Slough has been endorsed by Florida’s 17th Lt. Governor Jeff Kottkamp, Putnam County School Board Members Nikki Cummings and Lisa Parsons, St. Augustine Police Chief Loran Lueders, St. Augustine City Commissioner Nancy Sikes-Kline, St. Johns County Commissioners Mark Miner, Cyndi Stevenson, Ron Sanchez, Ken Bryan, and Jay Morris, St. Johns County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Joseph Joyner and St. Johns County School Board Members Tommy Allen, Bill Mignon, Bill Fehling, and Carla Wright.
Bev Slough currently serves as Chairman of the St. Johns County School Board. St. Johns County has been ranked the top school district in Florida for the past three years. Bev is also President of the First Coast United Way, Past President of both the Florida School Boards Association and EPIC Community Services, and an active member of the boards of St. Johns Education Foundation, PACT Prevention Coalition, Character Counts!, and JCP Cares.
