March 26, Historic City News reported that the German manufacturer, 2G Bio-Energietechnik AG, purchased a 60,000-sf facility in the Interstate Commercial and Industrial Park off Agricultural Center Drive.
Melissa Glasgow, Director of Economic Development for St Johns County, told us that the new company, which had been incorporated just less than 30 days, would add 100-125 professional jobs to the local economy.
Christian Grotholt, president of the parent company, 2G Bio-Energietechnik AG, reported that “2G Manufacturing Inc.”, will be the 2G entity that will operate the St Augustine factory. Grotholt serves as the sole officer and director, according to records on file with the Secretary of State.
Today, according to an article that appeared in the Tampa Bay Times, information contained in a state database of pledged tax breaks and additional incentives worth $155 million, was leaked; identifying beneficiary companies promising to create Florida jobs — among them, 2G Manufacturing Inc. in St Augustine.
The information released showed that 2G Manufacturing Inc. was given two awards totaling nearly $1 million in incentives for those yet unrealized new jobs; one for $625,000 and another for $350,000.
The average income for those new workers was estimated at $50,000 per year, according to the database information obtained.
