St Augustine ranks 9th in top 15 destinations

Good news for travel and tourism businesses in town, after a Newton, Massachusetts based travel website, TripAdvisor, released a report to Historic City News indicating that St Augustine is one of the top 15 “destinations on the rise” for 2012 — as ranked by TripAdvisor travelers and editors.

Also ranked on the list, Pensacola ranked fifth and Fort Myers came in at 3rd – preceded only by Nashville, Tennessee, and Austin, Texas.

The list is comprised of destinations that have seen a remarkable increase in traveler reviews on TripAdvisor.com over the last year.

The TripAdvisor website is ranked as the world’s largest travel community with more than 50 million monthly visitors, 20 million members, over 60 million reviews and opinions.

The review says, “Savor a restorative drink in St. Augustine’s Fountain of Youth National Archaeological Park, site of the conquistadors arrival in what is now the United States. Travelers can also take a break from history at a local beach, or indulge in some retail therapy among the many arts and crafts stores.”
