Harlan Mason, Chairman of the St Johns County Republican Party, announced to Historic City News, and registered Republican voters, that the Republican Party of Florida has selected St Augustine and St Johns County as a 2012 Victory Office.
The news is accompanied with much needed financial and operational support, Mason told reporters. At Saturday’s Grand Opening of the local Party Headquarters, located at 525 SR-16 in the Westgate Shopping Center, Mason made the announcement official.
In achieving this designation, “special thanks are due to Ed Dupont, Bob and Joan Veit, Bob Smith, Mary Robbie, Gary Hiatt and Reau Estes, for their many hours of work establishing our Victory Office,” Mason said.
“The Republican Party of Florida is paying for our rent expense, Internet service, and our communication systems,” Mason said. “Additionally, they have hired a full-time Office Manager and St Johns County Field Director, Justin Henson.”
The 24 year-old Ponte Vedra Beach resident is now responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Victory Office. Mason told reporters with Historic City News that Henson is a well-qualified professional with a degree in Political Science from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. “Justin also has four-year’s work experience with the Republican Party of Florida.”
One of responsibilities Henson has accepted is the coordination of volunteers to staff the headquarters through the November General Election, including those willing to call voters with information about Republican candidates in contested races; locally, statewide and nationally.
