St Johns County Commission District 5 candidate Rachael Bennett has asked for supporters to join her on the campaign trail tomorrow, Sunday, July 15 at 12:30 p.m. as she continues her weekend door-to-door walks throughout the county.
Saying she has been putting in a busy few weeks on the campaign trail, Bennett recounted meeting local small business owners Michael and Amy Harris; and taking a tour of their small business, Oceanside Cleaners.
“I am honored to have the support of many small business owners including Michael and Amy Harris, owners of Oceanside Cleaners,” Bennett told Historic City News. “Their entire operation is incredible — including their knack for great customer service.”
As a small business owner, Bennett said that she understands the need to cut government regulations, reduce taxes, limit the size of government, and create a business friendly environment to promote job growth.
“I am a conservative Republican, a staunch supporter of property rights, and I believe in the importance of individual initiative, the entrepreneurial spirit and free enterprise as the basis of a healthy economic system,” Bennett said.
Other activities where Bennett has been involved included the recent Art in Public Places exhibit in the County Administration Building, being interviewed by the First Coast Manufacturers, and being honored with an endorsement from the Northeast Florida Builders Association. Bennett said that she also continues to attend the bi-weekly county commission meetings.
On July 4, Bennett participated in the First Annual Watermelon 5k; sponsored by campaign supporters Mary and Phil Jacobs of St Augustine Beach and benefiting St Augustine Youth Services.
“My campaign continues to be energized by the voters of St Johns County,” Bennett told reporters. “We are out meeting people every day, and I look forward to continuing to hear the concerns of the citizens.”
