Historic City News reader Linda Murray provided the following upcoming events for your calendar.
The local chapter of the NAACP and Pastors United are sponsoring a voter registration drive TODAY on March 22nd at the Solomon Calhoun Center. This event will be held from 4pm to 7pm.
The monthly King Street Prayer Walk will be held on March 24th beginning at 9am. The prayer walk begins at 9am at Chase Funeral Home and ends at Collier Blocker Park. The prayer focus includes revitalization, economic development, schools, neighborhood safety and stabilization of West King Street. Improvements in water and sewer services and a better environment for the children and adults are also issues being prayed for during this Prayer Walk. This event is sponsored by Pastors United and will be held on the 4th Saturday of each month. Transportation will be provided from Collier Blocker Puryear Park back to Chase Funeral Home. All caring and concerned citizens are invited to participant. Prayer changes people and people change things.
The Chase Rescorla Scholarship Awards Dinner will be held on March 24th at the Elks Lodge on A1A. This year’s speaker will be retired Brigadier General Halsey Moorman. The first scholarship awards dinner was held in 2007. The Chase Rescorla Foundation has since awarded 32 scholarships totaling$ 27,500.00. The Chase Rescorla Foundation was established to honor two individuals that both sacrificed their lives in service to our country. Leo C Chase Jr and Rick Rescorla, your legacy lives on.
