St Augustine News Desk Editor, Michael Gold, was notified by Romanza President, Albert Syeles, that this year’s Romanza celebration has been expanded to include two weekends of entertainment — inspiring a name change from “Romanza Week” to “Romanza Festivale”.
Over 80 shows and exhibits are already lined up to delight and entertain Historic City News readers with many limited engagements scheduled throughout the ten consecutive days of celebration from May 10 – 19.
“The number of participating organizations and productions is up dramatically from Romanza Week 2012,” Syeles told Historic City News. “Romanza Festivale 2013 showcases the living culture of St Augustine: music, dance, theater, art, cuisine, and heritage.”
To give our readers a taste of what’s in store this year, Syeles shared a few hints of the broad scope of participants.
“There will be street fairs, concerts, plays, the Ponce de Leon Parade, re-enactments, exhibits, lectures, workshops, tours, pub crawls, farmers markets, wine-tastings and exquisite dining opportunities,” Syeles promised.
There will be featured headliners,
From Tango to Tapas.
From pirates to Picasso.
From stained glass to Gilbert & Sullivan.
From Colonial Harp, to Benny Goodman.
From live reenactments of Spanish colonial life, to 16th century boat construction.
From live cannon firings at our incomparable 17th century Spanish Castillo, to romantic music by the sea at our beautiful beaches.
Along with the nation’s oldest stone fort, St Augustine claims many titles including: “Nation’s Oldest City”, “Nation’s Oldest Port” and “Nation’s Most Romantic City”.
Come to St Augustine during Romanza Festivale and get to know our astounding history and amazing living culture.
