FCTV station manager, Josh Wallace, reported to Historic City News that he will serve as executive producer of a weekly, half-hour television program about St Augustine that will air on the CW network-affiliated station in Jacksonville beginning Sunday, October 6 at 7:00 p.m.
After more than a year in planning, the Communication Department of Flagler College will launch the St Augustine lifestyle show that features stories about unique people and places in St Augustine. Historic City News readers are invited to attend a live screening of the premier episode this Sunday at the Gamache-Koger Theater in the Ringhaver Student Center located at 50 Sevilla Street in St Augustine.
“Ancient City Stories is a fantastic opportunity for our students who consistently create broadcast quality work,” Wallace told local reporters. “The students have put a lot of hard work into the show. With the premier right around the corner, we are all very excited to see the fruits of our labor.”
Wallace said there are a number of students working on the first 52-week run of the local program. This summer, Sina Eslami, Shannon LeDuke, Elizabeth Eustace, Madison Ciklin, Ben Whitson, Jason Reimann, Harold Hood and Josh Santos were producing content that included participation from numerous communications classes. The project has utilized student skills from across all communications majors; including researching, editing, publicity and social media.
“CW-17 WCWJ gave us a mission to find interesting people and places in St Augustine,” said Tracy Halcomb, chair of the Communication Department. “The content of the shows is 100 percent shot and edited by communication majors and alumni. The decision by the station to air the show in such a high profile time slot, says something about the quality of the students’ work.”
