Historic City News readers will receive free admission to the Second Annual Arts Alive Performing Arts Competition on Friday, April 26th, at Nease High School in Ponte Vedra Beach, according to an announcement from the St Johns County Education Foundation.
Over 60 acts, featuring singers, songwriters, pianists and dancers, auditioned in front of a panel of three professional judges in March; the top 14 are competing for the title “Arts Alive Grand Champion”.
“There was so much great talent shown through these kids,” stated one of the judges. “I was completely blown away during their auditions and am so glad they have an outlet in which to express themselves so creatively.”
Along with awards for People’s Choice and Grand Champion, a winner will also be named as Judges’ Choice and one student will receive the Jim Springfield Scholarship for outstanding musicianship.
Patrons may purchase voting rights for $5 at the door, which gives you the ability to vote on performances via a handheld clicker.
With fear of budget cuts, the St Johns County Education Foundation wanted to raise the money needed to enhance arts education within our local school district. Bozard Ford has joined with the Education Foundation to present the evening’s ceremonies which will begin at 6:00 p.m. Arts Alive was designed to give students in our community a creative outlet while simultaneously raising funds for arts education in our county.
