Mentoring youth in foster care gives hope to teens and young adults who have faced tragic adversity during their early childhood and adolescence, and St Johns County is inviting Historic City News readers to apply and volunteer for one of these rewarding positions in our local community.
Having at least one responsible and caring adult figure, who shows interest in the youth’s well-being, has proven to be a determining factor in predicting the youth’s future success.
All professional and civic-minded citizens interested in becoming a mentor for a teen in foster care are invited to attend a training session from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on August 21 at the Family Integrity Program Office of the St Johns County Health and Human Services facility located at 1955 US-1 South, Suite B-6, in St Augustine.
Call 904.209.6127 in advance to register or for more information.
