Bunnell kicks off Centennial Celebration

City Clerk Dan Davis has invited Historic City News readers to join in as the City of Bunnell Centennial Committee kicks off its celebration with the Historic Tour and Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, January 12, beginning at 2:00 p.m.

Flagler County and Heritage Crossroads worked together to produce the Historic Tour which begins at the Old Flagler County Courthouse on Moody Boulevard and is designed to encourage participants to enjoy all of Bunnell’s rich cultural legacy.

“Whether sitting back on a bus or running around and competing against others for big treasures, this is your chance to learn about our history,” Davis told reporters.

Admission on the tour is free of charge and will pass several historic Bunnell landmarks.
Tours are free of charge and will be leaving every hour. Arrive early, as seating is limited.
Two special stops on the tour include the Bunnell Masonic Lodge, where historic artifacts will be on display, as well as the Little Red School House.

Starting at 1:30 p.m. for those feeling more adventurous, registration will begin at the Coquina City Hall for a Scavenger Hunt. The official starting time for the hunt is 2:30 p.m. Bunnell’s Centennial Committee will offer a brief set of instructions and 100 clues to aide participants on their quest — one for each year of our anniversary.

The teams that correctly answer the questions and complete each task assigned will be eligible for the $500.00 Grand Prize, $100 second prize, as well as gift cards and memorabilia.

All contestants must return to City Hall no later than 5:15 p.m. as the prizes will be awarded at 5:30 p.m. Identification will be required to claim your prize. The entry fee is $5.00 for a team of up to four people. You will need comfortable shoes and a vehicle to transport you to more than two dozen locations. A smart phone may be helpful with answering some of the questions.
