A homeowner on DeHaven Street heard a noise and thought it was a limb that had fallen on his roof. Shortly thereafter, his bedroom door opened and he heard someone said “He’s home”. The resident reported that he heard more than one person running away, so he armed himself; firing one shot at the intruders, but not hitting anyone. A neighbor called the police for him. Officers did find a broken door frame and determined the suspects had kicked in his door. The investigation is continuing.
A woman at 28 North Whitney Street reported an overnight theft from her unlocked car. Missing were 3 prescription medications; however, nothing else seemed to be touched.
A woman on Palmetto reported her purse being stolen from her front porch while she was loading her car. When the victim went to get her purse, she found it missing.
A guest at the Best Western, Spanish Quarter, reported someone entered his room and took his backpack and electronics. No suspects or witnesses were identified.
James Gray of St Augustine came to the police station to turn himself in on an open St Johns County warrant. He was transported to the St Johns County Detention Facility at the Neil J Perry Criminal Justice Compllex.
Shannon Goodale of St Augustine was stopped and arrested for driving while under the influence on Cathedral Place.
