Historic City News has learned that a 16-year old inmate in the custody of the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice has fled from authorities during a permitted field trip to a CR-208 horse farm this afternoon.
The inmate, identified as Cylis McMillian, 16, of Citrus County, is a white male, 6’2” tall, 150 pounds wearing a blue shirt and green pants.
McMillian, who was with a group of inmates at the Haven Horse Ranch, in the 7300 block of CR-208, kicked out a bathroom window at the ranch around 12:30 p.m. and fled on foot.
McMillian was in custody for non-violent burglary and theft charges.
Deputies were led to the area of the World Golf Village and the SR-16 and I-95 area.
Deputies continue to search for the juvenile from the ground and air.
Anyone that may come in contact with him is asked to contact the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office immediately or 911.
