Paul Williamson announced to Historic City News that the members of the St Augustine City Commission will convene in a workshop this Thursday to review the proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2013-14 in an informal format.
Historic City News readers are invited to observe the discussions; although public comment is not scheduled. No votes are taken during a workshop.
Public hearings on the budget, including public comment, are scheduled for September 5th and September 19th — each starting at 5:05 p.m. Once approved, the budget goes into effect with the start of the new fiscal year on October 1st.
In preparation for the workshop, staff prepared a workbook for commissioners with a budget summary of each of the funds on which the city relies for operations. To view the workbook, visit www.staugustinegovernent.com
If you plan to attend, the city commission workshop will be held on Thursday, August 22 starting at 9:45 a.m. in the Alcazar Room of the City Hall Building located at 75 King Street in St Augustine. New safety measures will require attendees to empty the contents of their pockets, subject their bags to search, and submit to an electronic frisk performed by uniformed police using handheld wands upon entry, or re-entry, to the meeting room. Allow sufficient additional time to accomplish this new safety measure.
