City holds Planned Urban Development Workshop

Historic City News readers will have two meetings of the St Augustine City Commission to attend on Monday afternoon — prior to the regular at 5:00 p.m. business meeting, commissioners will meet in a workshop at 4:00 p.m. to discuss what some residents believe is the misuse of the PUD to circumvent protections afforded by city zoning.

Assistant City Attorney Isabelle Lopez will present a “Second Draft” of possible PUD amendments in strikethrough and underline format for review.

“These proposed changes are a synopsis of the concerns, suggestions and consensus raised at public hearings and workshops,” Lopez told reporters. “They focus on only the sections of the code relating to PUDs, as a beginning point.”

The City Commission previously heard a staff presentation at its regular meeting on January 28th.

Although not required during public workshops, the agenda published by the City Clerk provides for public comments — of which there will likely be a few.

Lopez told Historic City News that, after the workshop, these proposed changes will be forwarded to the Historic Architectural Review Board for discussion and the Planning and Zoning Board for a recommendation.

If you are planning to attend, the St Augustine City Commission’s workshop will convene at 4:00 p.m. and the regular meeting begins at 5:00 p.m. Monday evening in the Alcazar Room of City Hall located at 75 King Street. The public is invited, although seating is limited. The regular meeting will be televised live via GTV, Comcast Channel 3.
