For the third consecutive year, Flagler College has reported to Historic City News that they have been named one of the healthiest workplaces in Northeast Florida by the First Coast Worksite Wellness Council.
The Silver Medal award winning wellness committee at Flagler College meets monthly to plan and manage initiatives such as social media awareness and speaking events featuring health care professionals.
“I have an excellent committee because everyone is willing to work together to improve our campus,” said Tricia Kristoff, Flagler’s Human Resources Generalist. “We also have full support from the upper management, which is very helpful. We’ve already seen a reduction in both health insurance claims and premiums.”
The college offers walking programs, free Zumba classes, and hosts an annual wellness fair. Conference attendees are provided with healthy refreshments or participate in walking tours of the campus.
Kristoff formed Flagler’s wellness committee five years ago to help improve the health of the faculty and staff. “I’ve even seen faculty members encouraging each other to join them in fitness activities,” Kristoff told Historic City News. “It’s really going great.”
