Davis goes directly to lottery office – collects $1 million

The Florida Lottery announced to Historic City News that 59-year-old Cynthia Davis of Ponte Vedra Beach claimed a $1 million top prize in the $10 MONOPOLY MILLIONAIRE scratch-off game at Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee.

Davis chose to receive the winnings in a one-time, lump-sum payment in the amount of $774,601.60.

Davis purchased her winning $10 scratch-off ticket from the Gate located at 2140 Belfort Road in Jacksonville. There are six top prizes of $1 million remaining. The game’s overall odds of winning are one in 3.34.

MONOPOLY is the most popular licensed brand offered by the Florida Lottery. Since the first $2 MONOPOLY scratch-off game launched in 1996, additional price points have been added to form the Lottery’s most successful and sustaining “family” of games. The combined sales for all MONOPOLY scratch-off games have generated nearly $900 million to the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund. Starting July 2, there will be five new MONOPOLY scratch-off games available, ranging in price from $1 to $20.

The Florida Lottery offers approximately 60 scratch-off games at any given time through vending machines or counter displays at more than 13,000 retailers statewide. Scratch-off games are an important part of the Lottery’s portfolio of games, making up approximately 58 percent of ticket sales and generating more than $495 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund in fiscal year 2011-12.
