Flavors of Florida’s Historic Coast – More than 20 outstanding restaurants offer “Chef’s Choice” prix fixe (fixed price) three-course dining showcasing their chef’s talents and the rich culinary heritage of Florida’s Historic Coast. Ordinary People – A colorful, folksy art presentation featuring some of St. Augustine’s first colonists. The exhibit is open daily from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the St. Augustine Visitor Information Center, 10 Castillo Dr.

The African Market at Fort Mose – The African American Future Society Inc, creates an African Village experience at Fort Mose, the first free African settlement in North America. Activities, include storytelling, dancers and drummers, take place from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. each day (outdoor musical performances 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.) and will feature programs and exhibits about the languages, styles, traditions, food, art and music of West Africa. Liz Rodda Clockwise Exhibit – The Crisp-Ellert Art Museum at Flagler College will host works of multi-media artist Liz Rodda, who uses sculpture and video as a means to investigate our notions of fate, personal control, and the future. The artist considers each work a “psychological experiment.” Admission is free. Wood & Landscape Art Exhibit – The Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach hosts the works of Gene Roberds and Grant Ward. Grant specializes in turning wood and spinning metal vessels using a lathe. Gene Roberds’ creations include watercolors, oil and acrylic, plus some photographs and drawings. 12th Annual Tactile Art Show – This popular show at the St. Augustine Art Association features “touchable” art created in partnership with the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind. Bruce Minney Collages – The St. Augustine Art Association will showcase a solo exhibition of works by the late Bruce Minney in the Marguerita Phillips Permanent Collection Gallery. Minney was an established commercial artist whose illustrations were featured in countless men’s adventure magazines and paperbacks. Hotel Ponce de Leon 125th Anniversary Community Lecture – Professor Lucian Gassett presents a lecture titled “American Artistic Printing & Design Inspiration at the Turn of the Century.” The presentation is part of the commemorative events celebrating the 125th Anniversary of the opening of Henry Flagler’s Ponce de Leon Hotel and takes place at 10 a.m. in the Flagler Room at the former Hotel Ponce De Leon, now Flagler College. Tickets are $5 per person for a single lecture or $15 for four lectures in the series. Active military personnel may attend at no charge. Evenings at Whitney – At 7 p.m., The Whitney Lab Lohman Auditorium at Marineland hosts Dr. Elaine Seaver who will explain the developmental mechanisms underlying the diversity of marine animals. The Abolitlionists – “The Abolitionists”, from the National Endowment for the Humanities African-American Experience Film Series, will be shown in the Gamache-Koger Theatre, Ringhaver Student Center at Flagler College. The showing of this film is part of the series Race and the South: St. Augustine in Context, presented by the Flagler College Ideas and Images program marking the 50th anniversary of the passage of the Civil Rights Act. El Pescado Billfish Tournament – The Monique Burr Foundation, a non-profit advocate for abused children, will host the 25th El Pescado Billfish Tournament at Camachee Cove Yacht Harbor. This tournament is North Florida’s most celebrated blue water event and the only charity-run tournament of its kind in the Southeast. Register in advance online.

Corn Maze at Skyes and Cooper Farms – A 9-acre corn maze full of “cornfusing” twists and turns, “live” entertainment including Jack, the loudest hee-hawing donkey around and some more good ole family fun will be at the Sykes and Cooper Farms. Photography Challenge Event – Photographers, from beginners to professionals, compete to take the best photo at three designated locations within Washington Oaks Gardens State Park. Maps to the featured locations can be obtained from the Ranger Station or from volunteers in the main parking lot. Each month, park volunteers will select the winning photo which will then be displayed at the VIC kiosk and the park’s gift shop. There is no cost to compete. Timucua Program to Celebrate National Archaeology Day – Washington Oaks State Park hosts stories about the Timucuan Indians from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. See a 1500s Timucuan Camp and experience the food, clothing and shelter of these amazing people first hand. Experience Fort Mose: Native American Folklore – From 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., volunteers in period clothing offer visitors a fascinating glimpse into Native American folklore at this special program at the site of the first, legally-sanctioned, free black community in the United States. Nocatee Farmer’s Market – Featuring more than 70 vendors, Nocatee Farmer’s Market takes place from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at 245 Little River Rd., Ponte Vedra.
Tolomato Cemetery Guided Tour – The Tolomato Cemetery is the oldest extant planned cemetery in the State of Florida, with burials starting during the First Spanish Period (1565-1763). Visitor access is limited to the 3rd Saturday of each month when docents provide guided tours. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged. The cemetery will be open from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. 16 Cordova St., St. Augustine.
Civil Rights & Black Heritage Tour – St. Augustine Black Heritage Tours Inc. will offer a FREE historic walking tour at 5 p.m. Learn about St. Augustine’s historic role in Black History and events leading up to the Civil Rights act of 1964. Tours depart from the Tour Saint Augustine office, 4 Granada Street and encompass several blocks over the course of an hour. Space is limited and advance reservations are required. 904-825-0087
OceanWise An Evening For The Estuaries – The Friends of the GTM Reserve host their 4th annual signature evening event at the Environmental Education Center, Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve. From 6 – 9 p.m., selected chefs from local restaurants will prepare and offer a variety of ocean-friendly sustainable seafood fare. Local Resident Specials
St Johns County residents with valid identification are always admitted free of charge to the Oldest House, the Lightner Museum, the Fountain of Youth (special events excluded), the Ximenez-Fatio House, the Oldest Wooden Schoolhouse, City Walks History Mystery Murder Evening Tour and the Hotel Ponce de Leon Legacy Tours at Flagler College. The daily tours and wine tastings at the San Sebastian Winery are free to everyone. Also, admission is free to everyone at the Fort Matanzas National Monument, St Photios Chapel, the Pena-Peck House, the Father Miguel O’Reilly Museum and the Mission Nombre de Dios Museum. Many other local attractions offer discounted admissions to St Johns County residents with valid identification.
