St. Augustine Art Association Annual Honors Show – Features new works by artists who have won awards at association exhibits during the previous three years. Dog Days Art Exhibit – Opening reception for artist Sarah Emerson’s Dog Days exhibit is from 5-11 p.m. at St. Augustine’s space:eight Gallery, 228 West King Street, St. Augustine. Dog Days refers to the belief that these days of summer inspire evil. Emerson uses a candy-like palette to depict battlefields, natural and manmade disasters, barren landscapes inhabited by forest creatures and much more. The Birthplace of Freedom Lecture Series – The Fort Mose Historical Society presents a series of lectures to coincide with the June 22 anniversary of the Battle of Bloody Mose. Solarium Tours – Following a $2.3 million restoration, the magnificent Solarium of Henry Flagler’s Hotel Ponce de Leon is now open for public tours. Closed for decades, the Solarium was one of the outstanding amenities of the hotel when in opened in 1888. Now Flagler College, the former hotel was one of the world’s most exclusive destinations during America’s Gilded Age. The Solarium is a fourth floor parlor above the Rotunda and boasts a breathtaking panoramic view of the city. The 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Solarium tours, which include the hourly Historical Tours of Flagler College, are $18 per person. Battle of Bloody Mose Anniversary Commemoration – Exciting re-enactment of the 1740 Battle of “Bloody Mose” which forced the British to retreat from Spanish Florida. From 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. living history demonstrations, guided tours, food vendors, and music will be provided. Then, at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. the Spanish and British forces will reenact the “Bloody Moosa” battle. The event is weather permitting. It all takes place at Fort Mose State Park located at 15 Fort Mose Trail in St. Augustine. Admission is $2 per person.
