Fight escalates sending two to hospital and one to jail

Tension between two St Johns County men who were involved in an ongoing dispute quickly escalated, sending both to Flagler Hospital, and one to the St Johns County Detention Facility at the Neil J Perry Criminal Justice Complex, according to a report obtained by Historic City News earlier today.

Investigators interviewed witnesses at the scene of an altercation that led to a physical fight in the outdoor parking lot of a building in the 800 block of West King Street on Monday afternoon.

Based on those witness statements, and other evidence collected at the scene, an arrest warrant was obtained for 19-year-old Erich Stephen Terry, who resides at 987 West King Street in St Augustine, after it was learned that Terry had drawn a knife and stabbed his 25-year-old victim.

The two men left the area; but, clashed again, this time in the area of Brown and Butler Streets. During the second incident, Terry was said to have fired a handgun at the victim. During the fight, Terry reportedly received a blow to the head when his victim, in fear for his life, struck Terry with a brick.

Emergency medical personnel with St Johns County Fire Rescue transported both patients to Flagler Hospital for treatment of their injuries, and both parties were released.

This afternoon, detectives investigating the incident obtained and executed a warrant for Terry’s arrest. He is in custody at this time, in lieu of $50,000 bail; charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
