First-quarter food service violations report

The Division of Hotels and Restaurants reports to Historic City News each calendar quarter about St Augustine and St Johns County food service violations observed by Safety and Sanitation Inspectors during routine inspections, as well as those completed in response to complaints.

Hotels and Restaurants is the division of the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation that licenses, inspects and regulates public lodging and food service establishments in the state.

Their mission is to protect the health and safety of the public by providing the industry with quality inspections and fair regulation. 396 inspections were performed in St Johns County during the first quarter of 2013, according to the Hotels and Restaurants Division report accessed March 31, 2013.

Food service violations have been found at 53 establishments.

High Priority food service violations are those which could contribute directly to a foodborne illness or injury. Intermediate food service violations are those which, if not addressed, could lead to risk factors that contribute to foodborne illness or injury.
