For more than a decade “Project Buckle Up” has been helping make vehicle travel safer for kids in St Johns County, thanks to a free service offered by Tax Collector Dennis Hollingsworth.
At three of his offices, Hollingsworth has a total of seven certified Child Passenger Safety technicians who are trained to help parents and caregivers of children from birth to 13-years-old.
“We will be happy to demonstrate correct car seat installation techniques and be sure parents know how to properly fit their child to the car seat,” Hollingsworth told Historic City News reporters. “Just call the office to make an appointment and take advantage of the child safety seat installation and education service our staff provides.”
Technicians can be found at the Julington Creek office as well as both St Augustine offices; on Lewis Speedway and US-1 South. Appointments are required because technicians have other responsibilities and cannot provide car seat service to walk-in customers.
This free service is available now to anyone who has child passengers. In celebration of national Child Passenger Safety Week, September 15-21, Hollingsworth’s office will hold a special checkup event at the Julington Creek location; located at 725 Flora Branch Boulevard on Tuesday, September 17th from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. No advance appointment will be required at the special checkup event.
