St Johns County Supervisor of Elections, Vicky Oakes, met with Historic City News editor Michael Gold this morning in St Augustine to review local elections that will be held next year for various offices in St Johns County.
Although many municipal and special district elections are non-partisan, countywide and statewide elections are not; therefore, there is a Primary Election, designed to select the one candidate that will represent each party in the General Election.
“The following dates are important to St Johns County voters,” Oakes told Historic City News. “The registration books close on July 28, 2014 for the Primary Election and October 6, 2014 for the General Election.”
The Primary Election, where Democrats vote only for Democrat candidates, and Republicans vote only for Republican candidates, is August 26, 2014. The General Election, where all registered voters will vote, regardless of party affiliation, is November 4, 2014. Polling at your assigned precinct is held from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Election Day. As in past years, there will be additional Early Voting Days and the ability to vote by mail.
