Historic City News covered the meeting Thursday evening when Andrea Anthony of Ponte Vedra Beach was elected to serve as Treasurer of the St Johns County Republican Executive Committee; replacing Bob Veit who has been elected as Republican State Committeeman from St Johns County.
Veit joins Republican State Committeewoman Becky Reichenberg; representing St Johns County in business before the Republican Party of Florida.
Sitting officers of the local Republican Party include, Sean Mulhall of Ponte Vedra Beach, Chairman; William Korach of St Augustine Beach, First Vice Chairman; Brian Iannucci of St Augustine, Second Vice Chairman; Liliana Kurpanik of St Augustine, Corresponding Secretary; Eric West of St Augustine, Recording Secretary, Andrea Anthony of Ponte Vedra Beach, Treasurer; and Gary Howell of St Augustine, Director at Large.
In the August Republican Primary Election, John Charles Stevens of Ponte Vedra Beach won on the ballot for the State Republican Committeeman seat; however, on November 30, 2012, Stevens received a letter from the Republican Party of Florida informing him that he would not be seated. A suspension put in place in 2009 precludes Stevens from serving in such a capacity until July 25, 2013. Randy Covington, who ran second, had since been placed on suspension; and so, the seat fell to the third place candidate, Bob Veit.
