At 10:21 p.m. last night, a customer who told Historic City News reporters that he stops almost daily at the Interstate Mobil gas station located at 6020 East SR-100 entered the Palm Coast convenience store to find the clerk lying on the floor in a pool of blood.
Lieutenant Bob Weber, Public Information Officer for the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, provided local reporters a copy of the recorded E-911 call that described what the customer found as he entered the store to pay.
Video surveillance revealed that on Thursday night, 32-year-old Zuheily Roman Rosado, who lived at 601 Madison Green Circle in Palm Coast, was at work behind the counter of the convenience store.
An outside camera captured the image of the killer as he entered the store. The 5’10” tall man, wearing blue jeans and a dark t-shirt, is seen in the video pulling his shirt up over his face. The man is observed fleeing the store, moments later, heading west towards the north-bound entrance ramp to I-95.
The entire incident occurred – from start to finish – in less than 30 seconds.
An autopsy was completed by the Medical Examiner this afternoon. The victim’s death has been ruled a homicide by gunshot.
Weber informed Historic City News that, while the surveillance video images are of important evidentiary value, they are not of a quality that would assist in the identification of the suspect. Investigators are still trying to determine if anything of value was stolen during the incident.
Within moments of the gruesome discovery by the passing customer, an off-duty firefighter stopped at the station and checked the victim — he told the emergency call operator that he believed the victim was already dead.
Within approximately three minutes, nine patrol units, including K-9 officers assisted by air support provided by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, had established a perimeter and they were searching for the killer. Sheriff’s detectives on the scene, along with investigators from the State Attorneys Homicide Investigative Unit and Florida Department of Law Enforcement Crime Scene Unit, searched the area unsuccessfully.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 386-313-4911 or call Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida, toll-free, at (888) 277-TIPS. Tipsters who provide information to Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and can qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
