Historic City News readers are invited to participate when the Guana-Tolomato-Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve hosts National Estuaries Day events tomorrow, September 27th and Saturday, September 28th at the Environmental Education Center in Ponte Vedra Beach.
Friday night’s Star Party provides an opportunity to bring the family, or that special someone, and look up at the night sky to learn about navigational history. A laser point constellation tour will be offered providing a look at different constellations and heavenly bodies.
Saturday’s family event showcases northeast Florida specialists from all aspects of the estuarine ecosystem.
The Star Party Friday night will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and the Family Event will be held Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Environmental Education Center is located at 505 Guana River Road in Ponte Vedra Beach.
There will be food and fun activities, such as face painting, fishing, seining, kayaking, hiking, and biking. A Sea Turtle obstacle course, on loan from the Sea Turtle Conservancy, will be available for the kids. For more information, visit www.gtmnerr.org
