Today the City of St Augustine informed Historic City News that, for a limited time, our readers can save $7.50 off the price of a two-day pass to use the shuttle system that will operate during the Mumford and Sons Gentlemen of the Road Stopover.
The specially discounted price of $22.50 for each wristband, only applies to orders booked online through September 4th — on September 5th, through the dates of the event, the cost will be $30.00 per person.
“The program is the first of its kind, and will serve both the event attendees and the community,” said project manager, Mark Litzinger. “Your wristband includes unlimited rides on all shuttle routes and two-days of free parking at the event’s satellite parking location.”
The fine print? Wristbands are valid for both Friday and Saturday, September 13th and 14th; single-day wristbands are not available. Children aged five and younger ride free — if accompanied by a ticketed parent or guardian. A “Gentlemen of the Road Stopover” ticket is not required to purchase a shuttle wristband. Wristbands are valid for transit only and will not permit access to the “Gentlemen of the Road Stopover”. The ticket price includes all taxes and fees for a pass that can be redeemed for a wristband as you board.
According to Director of Public Affairs, Paul Williamson, parking in downtown St Augustine during the event will be prohibitive as nearby neighborhoods will be restricted to residents only, and access to the few private parking areas will be extremely limited or unavailable. “The shuttle will be the best transit option,” Williamson told reporters.
Shuttle routes will link historic downtown St Augustine and Francis Field, site of the event, to the satellite parking location at the Northeast Florida Regional Airport and to the areas of Vilano Beach, SR-A1A South to Crescent Beach, the I-95/SR-16 interchange, and the World Golf Village.
City Manager John Regan described the shuttle’s “continuous looped routes”; saying that the plan will allow riders to travel into the city, to the beach, and visit attractions outside walking distance from downtown.
“The shuttle will travel its complete routes during its operating schedule from 10:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, September 13 and 14 until 3:00 a.m. the following morning, with continuous drop off and pick up at designated locations,” Regan explained. “This will offer a safe return option for shuttle riders and the opportunity to further explore the area after the event ends at 11:00 p.m.”
As an added benefit, the wristbands grant the wearer access to “Shuttle Perks” — a vast array of discounts being offered by local retailers, restaurants and attractions to showcase all that St Augustine has to offer.
