Quick action by St Augustine Police resulted in the capture of a man authorities say pulled a robbery at the downtown branch of the Bank of America, located at 60 Cathedral Place.
Police received the bank robbery alarm at 2:19 p.m. this afternoon. Several officers quickly set up a perimeter while others contacted bank personnel inside the building.
“Although he had already left the bank, a description of the robber was relayed via radio to officers in the area,” Sergeant Brian D. Frasca told Historic City News just hours ago.
Officer Joel Jenkins spotted a 35-year-old white man, matching the description of the robber, who was walking over the Bridge of Lions.
Jenkins detained James Jordan King for identification purposes. Subsequently, two witnesses, who had each observed the robbery, were able to positively identify King as the man who robbed the bank. Jenkins last known address was 5200 Avenue D St Augustine, FL 32095.
The amount of money stolen in the robbery was not reported; however, Frasca reported that all of the money that was taken in the robbery was recovered.
No one was reported as injured in the robbery or arrest.
