Recalling events that led to our Revolutionary War

Saint Augustine Tea Party Chairman, Lance Thate, announced to Historic City News this morning, that, at their next regular meeting on April 23 at 6:30 p.m., a special commemorative presentation will be made of the events of 1775 that led up to the outbreak of the American Revolutionary War in 1776.

The patriotic events of April 19, 1775 at Lexington and Concord will be re-enacted during the Saint Augustine Tea Party meeting on April 23, 2013; when Janet and Bruce Smith, along with Rick Haven, adorn their period clothing to recall the perspectives of several persons of the day from their letters and texts.

“The incredible courage of these individual Americans, at this defining moment in our history, will truly inspire you,” Thate told local Historic City News reporters. “You do not want to miss these gifted re-enactors and their stories.”

The Saint Augustine Tea Party meets at the Village Inn located at 900 North Ponce de Leon Boulevard in St. Augustine. After the brief business meeting, the three re-enactors will present these little-known portions of history in the Southern oral tradition.

Great things can occur when individuals take responsibility for themselves, Thate says.
