Sheriff opens new Palm Coast precinct

Historic City News reporters attended this morning when Flagler County Sheriff James L. Manfre officially opened the newly relocated Palm Coast precinct in a ribbon-cutting ceremony assisted by city and county officials.

Unlike Flagler Beach, St Augustine Beach, Bunnell, or the City of St Augustine, the City of Palm Coast does not have its own police department; they contract with the Sheriff’s Office to provide law enforcement services within their city limits.

“This has been an effort of unbelievable coordination by the city staff and precinct staff to open this office in a timely manner,” said Sheriff Manfre. “Everyone involved has worked tirelessly to make this move occur.”

The full service precinct was relocated from an office front on North Old Kings Road to the new site at 160 Cypress Point Parkway in Suite C-107. The expanded office space will be staffed Monday through Friday by a full time Sheriff’s deputy and volunteers of the Sheriff’s Citizen Observer program.

Sheriff Manfre has added a full time Records Clerk who will be able to respond to requests for reports and traffic crashes. The Sheriff’s Traffic, Motors Unit and Community Outreach Unit will also be operating out of these offices.

“The new location will make the precinct much more user friendly. Citizens can visit City Hall and then walk just a few steps to do business at the precinct,” the Sheriff said.

The new precinct is about 2,600 square feet in size or about double the size of the previous office. The move is expected to save taxpayers about $13,000 on rent annually.
