Beach Manager Billy Zeits reported to Historic City News that, due to high tides in excess of six feet, large surf from the northeast wind, and new-moon high tides, vehicle access to southern St Johns County beaches is temporarily restricted.
The impact from these oceanic and lunar conditions requires an adjustment to the location of the driving lane and on-beach parking areas.
“All infrastructure associated with vehicle access was removed today during low tide,” Zeits told local reporters. “We expect restrictions to remain in place through Wednesday, November 6.”
Vehicle access gates at Vilano Beach and Porpoise Point will remain open for the time being; but, they will be re-evaluated each morning, Zeits said.
