For the third time in the past thirty days, and twice in the past ten days, a Flagler County bicyclist has been struck by a motorist; this time, the victim was a 75-year-old Palm Coast man, according to information received by Historic City News from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at 11:00 a.m. yesterday on Cypress Point Parkway at Belle Terre Parkway.
Trooper Dean Lewis reported that 75-year-old Kelvin Jaime Pinero, who resides at 14 Wellstone Dr in Palm Coast, was traveling north on the west sidewalk along Belle Terre Parkway and failed to stop before entering the crosswalk at Cypress Point Parkway.
Witnesses to the crash say that 67-year-old Antoinette Mary Ulmer, who resides at 35 Banner Ln in Palm Coast, was stopped at the traffic light; then she turned left, onto Belle Terre Parkway from Cypress Point Parkway, after the light turned green.
Pinero struck the passenger-side of Ulmer’s grey Toyota 4-Runner and sustained a serious leg injury. He was transported to Halifax Hospital for treatment. Ulmer was uninjured.
Trooper Lewis reported that charges have not yet been filed as the investigation continues.
