Just before 1:00 a.m. this morning, Police Chief Robert A Hardwick informed local Historic City News reporters that officers were able to capture three men wanted in connection with several burglaries that occurred last night in the area of Lee Drive and Clipper Court in St Augustine Beach.
The three St Johns County residents escaped police at the crime scene after the officers broke off a foot pursuit.
During the investigation, one officer stopped a vehicle fleeing from Clipper Court. Clearly visible inside the vehicle, were items stolen from several vehicles and garages that were left open by the residents.
Two men, matching the description of the men that fled police earlier and information obtained from the driver that was taken into custody at the scene, were observed walking down SR-A1A from the area where the burglaries occurred. All three were questioned by officers at the Beach Police Department.
The three subjects arrested are 18-year-old Quentin D Peterson, who resides at 205 Spring Street in St Augustine – $18,000 bond; 20-year-old Matthew F Shenett, who resides at 2931 North Sixth Street in St Augustine – $1,000 bond, and 18-year-old Robert C Clark, who resides at 1411 Masters Drive in St Augustine – $18,000 bond.
All three subjects have had prior law enforcement contact and have been charged with residential burglary, burglary to a structure or conveyance-armed, possession of burglary tools, petit theft and resisting or obstructing without violence and were transported to the St Johns County Pre-Trial Detention Facility.
